Discrimination against LGBT+ people is still widespread, and this also applies to STEM. Similar to women and people of colour, evidence has shown that the STEM fields are sometimes not accessible to queer people.

Almost exactly 85 years ago, Filipinas chose their right to vote. Prior to 1937, women in the Philippines had virtually no rights, and the all-male National Legislative were firmly against women's suffrage, fearing that traditional family roles would start to change.

The Dahomey Amazons—traditionally called the N'Nonmiton—were an army of women in the Kingdom of Dahomey, present-day Benin. Their origins are somewhat murky, but there were records of women warriors in the region from the eighteenth century.
